Mechanism of Plastic Deformation of As-Extruded AZ31 Mg Alloy during Uniaxial Compression

چکیده

The deformation mechanism and texture evolution of AZ31 Mg alloy compressed in three different directions at room temperature were studied, the relationship between two was compared through experiments viscoplastic self-consistent (VPSC) modeling. Setting up only one specific mode predominant by changing CRSS ratio for modes. following conclusions drawn: (1) It demonstrated that basal slip causes a slow continuous deflection grain toward transverse direction (TD). When sample is extruded (ED), prismatic leads to grains being deflected ED initial stages compression, when 45° extrusion (45ED) perpendicular (PED), <a> contributes little evolution. (2) along directions, pyramidal <c+a> normal (ND), {10-12} extension twin deflects large angle. (3) {10-11} compression activated, will be ND while 45ED, but PED, are concentrated from both sides center.

In-Situ Evaluation of Detwinning Behavior in Extruded AZ31 Mg Alloy by AE

Tension twinning readily occurs under compressive loading along extrusion direction because extruded AZ31 Mg plate has the texture with the basal planes parallel to the extrusion direction. Detwinning occurs in the twinned areas during tensile loading in the opposite direction. In this study, acoustic emission (AE) during the tensile test was investigated for the evaluation of detwinning behavi...

Hot Deformation Mechanisms in AZ31 Magnesium Alloy Extruded at Different Temperatures: Impact of Texture

The hot deformation characteristics of AZ31 magnesium alloy rod extruded at temperatures of 300 °C, 350 °C and 450 °C have been studied in compression. The extruded material had a fiber texture with > < 0 1 10 parallel to the extrusion axis. When extruded at 450 °C, the texture was less intense and the > < 0 1 10 direction moved away from the extrusion axis. The processing maps for the material...

THE EFFECT OF SEVERE PLASTIC DEFORMATION ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF AS-CAST AZ31

The evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of a magnesium cast alloy (AZ31) processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at two different temperatures were investigated. The as-cast alloy with an average grain size of 360 &nbsp;was significantly refined to about 5 &nbsp;after four ECAP passes at 543 K. Grain refinement was achieved through dynamic recrystallization (DRX) du...

Superplasticity of a fine-grained Mg–1.5 wt% Gd alloy after severe plastic deformation

The strain rate sensitivity (SRS) of Mg–1.5 wt% Gd processed by conventional extrusion and 2 passes of simple shear extrusion (SSE) was investigated by shear punch testing. Shear punch tests were conducted at initial shear strain rates in the range of 0.003–0.3 s-1 and at temperatures in the range of 573–773 K. A fine-grained microstructure with an average grain size of about 2.5 µm, obtained a...
